10*WAITING ON GOD
10*WAITING ON GOD
Waiting on God can sometimes feel frustrating.
It can be difficult to praise Him, remember who He is, and rest in His sovereignty when parts of your life are not unfolding the way you hoped. In those moments, the part of us that wants control begins to wrestle with the Holy Spirit within us. The gentle voice that says, “I’ve got this. Just trust Me.”
To the flesh, that can feel almost dismissive. Even unfair. But that reaction reveals something deeper happening inside of us.
Every now and then I find myself in a quiet battle within my own heart. A tension between surrender and control. And every time I encounter that struggle, I’m reminded that there is still more growing for me to do.
My desire is to reach the place where what is, simply is, and what will be, will be. A place where I can move with the Lord’s leading the way a leaf moves with the wind..trusting that whichever direction He carries me is exactly where I am meant to go.
Yet lately, I’ve caught myself wondering something else.
Maybe there is more I should be doing. Almost as if God needs my help.
Of course, when we say it out loud, we know how crazy that sounds. The Creator of heaven and earth does not require assistance from His creation. And yet, in seasons of waiting, the temptation to “figure it out ourselves” can creep in.
The truth is, a waiting season with God does not necessarily mean doing nothing. But sometimes it also means walking forward without clear instructions for every step.
And that can be difficult. I’ve been there. I believe we always encounter that space in different seasons of our walk.
Because when the details are unclear, it can begin to feel like we are simply existing, worshiping, praying, believing, and yet not seeing movement.
There have even been moments when I felt frustrated while worshiping Him. Moments where it felt like I was pouring out praise and receiving nothing in return.
But then the Lord gently corrected my perspective.
I was created to worship Him.
Everything else is a gift.
When we remember that our purpose is simply to belong to Him, something shifts in our hearts. Our flesh resists that truth. There is a groaning within us that wants to rebel against the idea that we deserve nothing.
But the deeper reality is this:
When we have God, we have everything.
If the fullness of heaven and earth exists within Him, then possessing Him means lacking nothing at all.
And yet, sometimes it can still feel like we do.
I find it interesting that during some of the most difficult seasons of my life..times filled with stress, spiritual warfare, and constant pressure, I heard God so clearly. His voice felt near. I experienced dreams, visions, and moments of powerful supernatural clarity. He would guide me daily, showing me what to do, what to release, and how to move forward.
But now, in a quieter and simpler season, I hear Him less.
In the stillness, He seems quieter.
And strangely enough, that silence can feel like the hardest part of waiting.
Because if we desire to live in obedience, we often feel we need clear instructions before we act.
But recently, the Lord corrected my thinking.
He reminded me that obedience is not only responding to a direct instruction from Him.
Obedience is also found in His Word.
Sometimes we think obedience only means following the personal directions God speaks to us through prayer, dreams, or revelation. But disobedience can also look like neglecting the place where He has already spoken.
Scripture.
If a day comes where I feel like I have not heard from God, the question should not be, “Why is God silent?”
The question should be, “Have I gone to the place where He always speaks?”
His Word is that place.
When we open Scripture, God meets us there. He teaches. He instructs. He convicts. He comforts. He begins conversations with us and often finishes them there as well.
Sometimes we expect hearing from God to look like something dramatic. A vision, a dream, or an incredible supernatural moment.
And sometimes it does.
But many times, it looks much simpler.
It looks like reading a verse and suddenly understanding it in a way you never have before.
It looks like tears filling your eyes as you whisper, “Jesus, I love you.”
It looks like being overwhelmed by the greatness of God while reading a passage you have read a hundred times before.
It looks like revelation quietly unfolding in your heart.
That is also God speaking. That IS the Holy Spirit responding.
That is communion with God. And it is incredible.
So maybe the question in seasons of waiting is not, “Has God forgotten me?”
Maybe the real question is, Do I truly want to hear from Him?
Because those who seek Him will find Him.
If we seek Him with all of our hearts, we will discover that even in the waiting, something beautiful is happening beneath the surface.
God is producing fruit.
And often, the fruit grown in waiting becomes the most beautiful fruit of all.
PRAYER-
dEAR GOD,
THANK YOU FOR THE FAITH GIVEN TO ME, TO GET ME TO THIS PLACE OF WAITING ON YOU. I KNOW WAITING ON YOU IS NEVER IN VAIN, SO I ASK FOR HELP IN THIS SEASON, AND A MORE PATIENT VERSION OF ME TO BE PRODUCED. I TRUST THAT IN THE QUIETER SEASONS YOU ARE STILL SPEAKING, SO MAKE ME MORE SENSITIVE TO YOUR VOICE SO I CAN HEAR YOU. SHOW ME HOW YOU DESIRE TO BE WORSHIPPED TODAY AND INVADE ME COMPLETELY. I’M SURRENDERED TO YOUR PLAN FOR MY LIFE, AND TRUST THAT WHERE YOU LEAD ME, IS THE BEST PLACE TO BE. TAKE ALL MY BURDENS AND ANXIETY AWAY AND NEED FOR CONTROL. AND ALLOW ME TO REST FULLY AND COMPLETELY IN YOU, WITHOUT WORRY, WITHOUT STRESS, BUT WITH HOPE AND JOY AND EXCITEMENT FOR THE FUTURE. I THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO DO.
IN JESUS’ NAME,
AMEN.
