04. WHY SHOULD I BELIEVE IN JESUS?

04. WHY SHOULD I BELIEVE IN JESUS? *
‘I have faith in other things, why Jesus?’
Whew. This is a question that has such a complex answer, yet the simplest one.
Faith is such a personal and deep life conquest that we all are created to have curiosity with. Everyone has faith. Everyone uses faith at some point. Faith in WHAT or WHOM is the question.
This is such a complex subject that Will take a few weeks to break down, but in short there’s having faith, and then choosing to have faith in something that brings eternal life. So many people who don’t walk with Jesus live for the ‘now’. While amazing being present in the now, it puts blinders on what is to come, and hinders you from building for the future. This is the case in anything even aside from faith. If we focus so much on the moment, we don’t have time to prepare for what’s to come. Preparation for the future all while living in a moment in time can be synonymous.
In the Christian Faith, Jesus is the way the truth and the life. There is no other God above him, in fact, there is no other true God. Jesus’ Identity isn’t based off of what he says, or what he tells us to do, and following him isn’t works based..But the Evidence of Jesus is what makes him Lord. Not only his Miracles, but his proof of existence. No other religion has this. In the bible so much prophecy has been fulfilled. This isn’t strictly just for readers of the bible, but some of the fulfilled prophecy and biblical events are actually tied to and learned in history. There have been recorded miracles, and more eyewitnesses during Jesus’ walk (over 500) than any other religion. In different parts of the world. What I think is so amazing, is that Scholars, believers, and historians all mention for the most part that there was a man named Jesus that DID exist and was executed under Pontius Pilate. Even other religions acknowledged that Jesus did in fact live and walk the earth. There is agreement on his life. This is huge. Because it’s seemingly undeniable. The lack of belief in who he was and what he did is where disagreement comes into play. Other religions mention Jesus, but Christianity doesn’t mention other religions.. This highlights his sovereignty.
Psalms 115:4 says
‘Their idols are silver and gold,
The work of human hands
They have mouths but do not speak
Eyes but do not see
They have ears but do not hear
Noses, but do not smell
They have hands but do not feel
Feet but do not walk
And they do not make a sound in their throat
Those who make them, become like them
So do all who trust in them.
Wow.
In totality this says,
How can the human being create this very thing it worships? These statues they bow to and pray to are simply just silver and gold, and although you create them to look personified, those are simply just creations without function. There is no life in them.
How can you look to something man-made to give you divine instruction? How can something man-made, guide you and prosper you? How can something man-made respond?
The proof of Jesus isn’t just the bible alone, but it’s the supernatural working of the Holy Spirit IN us once we accept him as our savior. The proof is in the miracles being performed daily all around the world. The dead being brought to life, the sick being healed, the blind given sight, prophecy, dreams, seeing in the spirit, speaking in tongues , prophetic visions, dreams and words spoken that come to fruition..and revelation to understand the Kingdom of God. All of these things are promised to us, and told thousands of years ago that these are the miracles and workings of Jesus. I see them everyday, I have some of them. Being a witness to the miracles of Jesus is something you can see even before accepting him. So whether you open a bible, or choose not to believe in what happened 2000+ years ago, the same miracles are happening today, in your city, in your state, your community..the world. Don’t shut your eyes to something so real in front of you. Search it out for yourself, and you will see the truth.
Jesus doesn’t ask us to work for his love. He gives it freely, there’s no price to pay. A God so loving that his mercies are new every morning for us. In fact, they never run out. A God that loves us so much, he died for us just to have eternal life with us and to give us his power and authority to get us through our time here on earth until the time comes to be reconciled with him. To be able to have victory over every thing that keeps us from him. What other God?
So faith in other things..why Jesus? Well because the one who created you to even host faith within you is the one you should have your faith in. How much stronger your faith will be when you get it solely from the source.
Jesus is the only way to true freedom.
I lived parts of life without him so I speak from a place of knowing and living it.
Life without Jesus always left me at a dead end in circumstances, in hardships..the drowning never truly stopped. You’d heal, move on, be free’d…and then months..weeks even years later that same thing crept back in..which meant I never was truly delivered, I just learned how to sweep it under the rug. Jesus is true deliverance. I’ve never looked back on the things i’ve been delivered from by him. He takes your desires away from the things that keep you in bondage. A walk with Jesus is a lifelong thing. It’s not about being perfect. It’s not about not failing, or making mistakes, it’s about willingness, and acceptance that he is who he says he is.
Step by step, and day by day, he’ll walk beside you and teach you and grow with you. Day by day you’ll shed layers and realize you don’t even miss them. Day by day you become the real you. The YOU that you were called to be. Not that you decided you’d be. It just starts with the acknowledgement that Jesus, was and still is real. And the curiosity about him and his life is simply a choice to seek out. You don’t have to have all the answers or even know ‘how’ to start. But there is a God that loves you, and desires partnership with you, and all you have to do is speak, and he’ll handle the rest.
I’ll be creating a devotional strictly on ‘Who is Jesus’ and the relationship between him, the Father, Holy spirit and us. It is complex to non believers and new believers, but take heart! Through explanation and wisdom, you’ll have understanding in no time, and it will soon be the one thing in this world, that in fact makes the most sense.
Prayer-
(For those struggling with faith, curious in taking a step, in other religions, or lacking faith)
Dear Jesus,
I want to believe you are real, and the one true God. I see your workings all around me, in creation alone and the very breath of life I have in my lungs has to be powered by something so much bigger than me. You are acknowledged over every other God in history, so today I choose to acknowledge you. I simply ask for you to show me who you are. I ask for you to come into my life, in a way that is undeniable. Give me a desire to seek you day after day, and find you. I want to live a life with sound mind, even in the midst of tribulation.I want to have eternal life, and live this life here on earth with true meaning and purpose. I want to be who I am called to be. I desire partnership with you, and relationship. Show me the way, Open my eyes to the truth, and I will follow you all the days of my life. In your name, Jesus. Amen.
