03. Who is like you, god?

03. Who is like you, god? *

Who is like you, God?

As i’m staring out the window it’s easy to answer that question. No one, nothing.

In Exodus 15:1-11, The ‘song of Moses’ is a song spoken to the Lord.

This scripture celebrates the Red Sea Crossing and deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt. The majesty of God, the supernatural workings of him, the largeness of him and magnitude of his strength with little effort. The realization that he is the Only creator and that his creation bows to him. Creation answers to him. He truly is Lord .

‘I will sing to the Lord

For he has triumphed gloriously

The horse and it’s rider

He has thrown into the sea’

(Ex 15:1)

While praises and glory should be given to God regularly, when we see God defy science (that he created) and deliver us not only from hardships, but from what is impossible to man, we praise him and glorify him through song and shouts of worship. This should also be done publicly. This then becomes testimony, having witnesses, in hopes they’ll be convicted enough to search out the same God with desire to experience his goodness too.

‘Ex 15 :8

‘And with the blast of your nostrils

The waters were gathered together’

This shows how big God is. How powerful he is. To control the earth, you have to be bigger than the earth. Thinking about this size wise, is humbling. One God, bigger than the earth. I think of when i blow my nose or let air out from my nostril. To know the Lord can do that, and it causes waters (oceans) to move…it leaves me with no words because even this isn't truly how big he is, but actually shows more, how simple it is for him to control a matter.

It makes me think, how small it is for God to move something in my own life…wow. The Exodus was such a big event in history, and the song of Moses shares not only how easy it was for God to deliver, but the affirmation that Yahweh is their God, not just by selection but by his undeniable actions. If ‘The Blast of God’s nostrils’ move the waters, how little effort for him to move something simple in my life? Moving forward this should show me yes, to have all my faith in him, but to truly realize how BIG he is and how small the things in my life are, and that if God loves me like he says he does (which he does) then how much would he delight in helping me with something that requires the tiniest bit of effort, so long as it’s in his will. (Isaiah 55:8)

Here’s a scenario..Something as small as someone saying they need ‘25 cents’ to make their account perfectly at 8,000 dollars. And I have a jar of 2,000 quarters. That’s how simple i’m talking. Something that requires 0 effort. Something that requires 0 thought. Something that would bring what they need to completion and would bring about celebration and joy. Volunteering for this is an obvious. It’s a delight in helping someone achieve this.

I delight more in the result than the action, simply because the action is so easy for me to deliver, and because I care for them, I want to see them happy. If what I can do for them, can be a source of their happiness, I delight in nothing but getting it done. How much more with God?

The Song of Moses is a reminder that we should always be exalting God, not just in deliverance and in the victory. Him waking us up is less effort than a blow of his nostrils, so like us with a coin, he’s delighted to do it. But also, when we feel not thought about by God, we can be reminded that everything God does is by choice. He chooses when it rains, he chooses when it snows, he chooses when there’s life and death. If he chose to wake us up today, he thought about us. How wonderful to know that. That Today you were thought about by God, and he decided that even before you were in your mother’s womb, you were important on the earth, and necessary for some kind of fulfillment. (Jer 1:5)

It rains on the earth to fertilize the ground, so crops can grow. The strength comes from the rain not the dirt. What comes from heaven falls upon you, for your growth,so you can grow and produce fruit for others to be fed. The tree isn’t suppose to get the benefits of being a tree that bears fruit, we are, animals are, the environment is. A tree doesn’t live for itself, it lives for the fulfillment of others.

When a tree isn’t being watered it stops producing fruit, then withers and dies.

Same with us. If we are not watered by the word of God, we aren’t truly ‘alive’. If we aren't nourishing others, and giving to others, we live for ourself. Our whole purpose is everything BUT living for ourself, it’s living for God, Loving God, and loving others. The same God that gathered the waters with his nostrils wants to send a drop unto us. He’s power, strength, he’s mighty, and full of purpose, and so are we.

PRAYER-

‘Dear God, because I believe your word is truth, then I know what your mighty hand has done.

You are power, strength and authority, and everything under heaven is yours. There is nothing too hard for you, there is nothing too big for you.  You are author and finisher of it all. Lord I surrender these prayers into your hands, knowing if it is your will, it WILL be handled, and you are delighted to not only answer my prayers, but take my burdens. Water me Lord, so I can grow into exactly who you called me to be, and be a doer of your word. In Jesus’ name, Amen’.
